1. Product Purpose

Token Ape has one purpose: to compress user-written prompts before they are submitted to AI chat tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and similar services.

The extension displays a small button near supported prompt editors. When you click the button, Token Ape reads the current prompt text, sends it to the Token Ape compression API, receives a shortened version, and inserts the compressed prompt back into the prompt editor.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Prompt Text You Choose to Compress

When you click the Token Ape compression button, the extension may collect the text currently written in the active prompt editor. This text is sent to the Token Ape remote API only for the purpose of generating a compressed version.

2.2 User-Provided File Content

If you paste, drag, or manually select supported text or code files for compression, Token Ape may read the text content of those files so that it can include the content in the compression request.

Token Ape is designed to support text-based files such as:

.txt, .md, .csv, .json
.js, .jsx, .ts, .tsx
.html, .css, .py, .sql
.log, .xml, .yml, .yaml

2.3 Extension Settings

Token Ape may store your extension preferences locally or using browser extension storage, including:

Compression mode
API base URL
Provider/model preference
Saved API key, if you manually add one
Estimated token-saving statistics

2.4 Usage Statistics

Token Ape may calculate and store local statistics such as estimated tokens saved, original token count, compressed token count, and number of compressions. These statistics are used to show savings to the user.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

Token Ape does not intentionally collect or access information unrelated to prompt compression.

We do not sell your personal data.
We do not use prompt content for advertising.
We do not collect browsing history for unrelated tracking.
We do not access emails, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, or downloads.
We do not monitor pages where Token Ape is not intended to operate.
We do not use the extension for ad targeting or behavioral profiling.

4. How We Use Information

Information processed by Token Ape is used only to provide prompt compression and related extension functionality.

To return a shorter compressed version of the prompt
To insert the compressed prompt back into the prompt editor
To show estimated token savings
To remember your extension settings
To authenticate API requests when you provide an API key

5. Remote API Usage

Token Ape uses a remote API hosted by AGNT.link to perform prompt compression. The API endpoint may include:

When you click the compression button, the extension sends the selected prompt text and relevant compression settings to the API. The API returns a compressed version of the prompt.

The remote API is used only to provide the compression feature. It is not used for advertising, unrelated analytics, sale of data, or tracking your browsing behavior.

6. API Keys

Token Ape may allow users to manually add an API key. If you add an API key, the extension stores it using browser extension storage so it can authenticate requests to the Token Ape API.

Your API key is used only to authorize compression requests. You should keep your API key private and remove or rotate it if you believe it has been exposed.

7. Browser Extension Permissions

Token Ape requests only the permissions needed to provide prompt compression.

Storage

Used to save user preferences, API configuration, API key, and token-saving statistics.

Supported Website Access

Used to detect prompt editors, show the Token Ape button, read the current prompt after user interaction, and insert the compressed result.

API Host Access

Used to send prompt text to the Token Ape compression API and receive the compressed result.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell user data.

Prompt text may be sent to the Token Ape API solely to generate a compressed result. We do not share prompt content with advertisers or data brokers.

We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the security and integrity of our services.

9. Data Retention

Extension settings and token-saving statistics may remain stored in your browser until you remove them, reset the extension, or uninstall Token Ape.

Prompt text sent to the Token Ape API is processed for the purpose of compression. AGNT.link does not use prompt text for advertising or unrelated profiling.

If your backend keeps logs for debugging or abuse prevention, update this section with your exact retention period, for example: “API request logs are retained for up to 30 days.”

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by Token Ape. API requests are sent over HTTPS.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Users should avoid submitting highly sensitive, confidential, regulated, or private information unless they are comfortable processing it through the compression service.

11. User Control

You control when Token Ape compresses a prompt. The extension compresses text when you click the Token Ape button or use its intended compression action.

You may remove stored settings by clearing extension data, resetting the extension, or uninstalling Token Ape from your browser.

12. Children’s Privacy

Token Ape is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to use online services without parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
